All-star cheerleading has changed a lot over the past ten years. But do you know just how much? When’s the last time you took a look at Worlds 2006 and compared them to today’s routines? Never?! Say no more…

2006 was a different time… straight-up stunts were the norm, dances could be 30 seconds, and back tucks in running tumbling were acceptable. The horror. Enjoy this step back in time where we compare 2006 routines to present day 2016 routines.

Stingray Orange

2006

Back in the day, Stingray Orange was one of THE small senior teams to beat. Although they took home silver this year, their execution and style shined through.

2016

In 2016, Stingray Orange holds eight Worlds titles and continues their all-girl legacy in the large senior division.

Top Gun All Stars Large Coed

2006

Even ten years ago, Top Gun has always had amazingly fun routines to watch. You’ll notice a lot of the same elements they used back then incorporated today.

2016

Today, Top Gun’s routines are absolutely insane. Tumblers flying everywhere, stunts at every turn, it’s like looking at a routine from 2006 and hitting the SUPERCHARGE button. Massively impressive.

Georgia All Stars Level 5

2006

Forever one of the most iconic performances in cheerleading with their unforgettable voice over…. “by the way, there’s 11 of us.” They were the first to ever put up 11 stunts, now it’s common to see 12 stunts in the large coed division.

2015

We don’t think Georgia has a level 5 team this year, but much has changed since their performance ten years ago. They found great success in the medium coed division with classic GA style.

Cheer Athletics Large Coed

2006

In 2006, Wildcats were in the Senior Large Coed division and took home the Gold. Cheer Athletics has been serving up pure athleticism since 2006, and today we see and expect nothing less.

2016

Today, Cheer Athletics large coed is better known as Cheetahs. They’re a crowd favorite and offer up an amazing routine.

Cheer Athletics Panthers

2006

In the days of yonder, before Panthers were known as BABS, these girls were still killing it on the mat. Watch as they take home the Gold in Large Senior.

2016

For a few years, Panthers left the Large Senior division, but they are b a c k. Will this be the year they finally take back the Gold in their old stomping grounds?

California All Stars Small Senior

2006

Before California All Stars Small Seniors was better known as “elite” or “Lady Bullets” or LBOD was a thing, CALI still put out great routines.

2016

Today, California All Stars small senior looks a tad different. A little more show, a little more sass. Just a bit more of everything.

Cheer Extreme Coed Elite

2006

Cheer Extreme Coed Elite has been around since nearly the beginning of all-star cheerleading. Their athleticism has never been questioned.

2016

Today, Coed Elite is the defending Large Senior Coed team.  In true Cheer Extreme form, their routines are now much more dynamic and integrated than ten years ago.

World Cup Shooting Stars

2006

Those World Cup Shooting Stars have truly been iconic for the past ten years. They’ve stayed true to their Large Senior roots and really found a home in this division.

2016

Today, World Cup maintains their place in one of the most difficult divisions. So difficult, in fact, that a different team has won every major competition this season. But, the 2016 Shooting Stars snatched the coveted NCA trophy in Texas this year and hope to break the curse once and for all.

GymTyme Internatonal

2006

Have you ever seen a team so sharp and clean? They had motions for days back in 2006 and that dance… it’s almost 30 seconds… and definitely something you don’t see today.

2016

The University of Lousiville continues to attract a large army of all-star cheerleaders for their college cheer program. That means that their international teams are stacked with some of the best cheerleaders in the country.

Maryland Twisters F5

2006

Long ago Maryland Twisters mastered the art of making it look like there was an army on the floor. Watch these girls take home the Bronze at the 2006 All-Star Cheerleading Worlds.

2016

This year, F5 is serving an incredibly dynamic routine in simple, yet elegant, uniforms. We’re loving this look, but tradition tells us that we may see something a little different Day 2 at Worlds 2016.

Spirit of Texas Coed

2007

We’re going to throw it back 9 years since it seems that every 2006 SOT video has disappeared! Back in the day when small coed had far more than 20 athletes, Spirit of Texas still had the same style we’ve come to love. Pure execution in beautiful white.

Today, the closest comparison team is Spirit of Texas’ Medium Coed team, Royalty. Spirit of Texas still performs in beautiful white uniforms with the same execution and style the world has come to know & love.
