IT’S WORLDS WEEK and social media is bustling with predictions and we thought it was time to share a few of our own. Predicting Worlds is a nearly impossible task, but we’re going to give it our best shot just for giggles.

Instead of guessing actual placements, we’re going to predict who will make finals for each senior division. We include the past four years of Worlds medalists, who won this season’s major competitions, and a bit about what we’ve noticed this season. For some divisions, like Large Senior, that’s pretty easy. But for Small Senior and Small Senior Coed, it’s anybody’s game. We used this season’s past competition performances and other upgrades videos to come up with these finalists.

We also included a link to a video of each of the teams who we believe are going to make it to finals. Enjoy.

We’ll be covering Worlds live from Orlando

Small Senior Worlds Predictions

Small Senior 5, per usual, is a huge division deep with talent. We’ve seen impressive cheerleading from these teams across the country all season long. While there is a lot of talent in this division, the same teams seem to end up on top year after year. Only 6 teams have made it to the top 3 spots in the past 4 years (ICE, Cheer Extreme, California All Stars, Top Gun, Woodlands Elite, and Green Bay Elite).

The 2016-2017 season has been dominated by the undefeated Woodlands Elite Generals. Every time Generals step on the floor, they are sharp, clean, and showcase incredible talent.

The reigning World Champions, Cheer Extreme SSX, remain a fan favorite and they’ve been on Generals heels all season long. They came in second at NCA by only .25 points behind Generals. Lady Bullets also made their way back into the spotlight when they showed UP at NCA and let the World know they’re ready to be back on top and landed in third.

My eyes are also on Stingrays Allstars Apple who have competed consistently all season. ICE Lady Lightning has been laying low, but they have a great routine that showcases their distinct style. Cheer Express Miss Silver gained a lot of attention at CheerSport when they won their division split and displayed a nearly perfectly executed routine. Top Gun Angels also have a routine that I think has a high probability of making it to finals.

There are 77 Small Senior 5 teams with bids to Worlds this year and only 10 will make it to finals. Less than 15% of all small senior teams headed to Worlds will advance to Finals, and it’s going to be a close race. In our opinion, here’s who we think is going to make finals at Worlds 2017.

Small Senior Coed 5 Worlds Predictions

Small Senior Coed 5 continues to be one of the most intense and largest divisions at Worlds. Like Small Senior 5, this division has more than 70 teams and only 10 will make it to finals. In the past 4 years, only 7 teams have made it to the top spot (California All Stars, Rockstar Cheer, MACS, Louisiana Cheer Force, Brandon All Stars, Vizion, and Prodigy).

As many very well know, California All Stars SMOED dominated Small Coed from 2012-2015 with four consecutive Worlds wins. But at Worlds 2016, Brandon Senior Black finally won their first World Championship since 2011. Some people, such as myself, thought this season would be dominated by either SMOED or Brandon Senior Black, but it’s been a flip flop of teams all season long.

Twist & Shout Diamonds have been the talk of the cheer world since they released their first stunt video last summer. Since then, everyone has been obsessed with them. At NCA, they showed us that behind all that hype is real, solid talent. They won first out of 29 teams ahead of some of the most beloved Small Senior Coed teams.

Twist & Shout Diamonds, Brandon Senior Black, and California All Stars SMOED are walking into Worlds 2017 as the fan favorites. I think we’re going to see amazing performances from both CheerForce Blackout and Prodigy Midnight who both placed well at NCA. There really are so many talented teams in this division it’s a shame only 10 will make it to finals.

Literally, anything could happen at Worlds and guessing this division is almost comical. But, based on this season’s performances, here’s who we think will make it to Finals at Worlds 2017.

Medium Senior 5 Worlds Predictions

In my opinion, Medium Senior 5 has turned out to be one of the most exciting divisions of the season. Even though Stingray All Stars Peach have dominated all season long, they have some fierce competitors fighting for the top spot. The talent is deep and there are at least 5 teams who I feel could win the World Championship title.

Peach placed second last year at Worlds and now they’re gunning for that top spot. The reigning World Champions, Spirit of Texas A-Team, have flown a bit under the radar this season, but after seeing them at the All Star Games in Vegas earlier this month, it’s obvious that they’re still a force to be reckoned with. California All Stars ACES are also holding their own in this division despite the fact that they have far fewer athletes than their most intense competitors.

East Celebrity Elite M5 Bombshells emerged early this season as a fan-favorite and I’m pretty comfortable saying they’re the underdog to look out for. I’m in love with their high-intensity and skill filled routine – if they hit it’s going to shake the division.

Speaking of underdogs, New Jersey Spirit Explosion Fab 5 has been grossly underestimated this season. Their 4th place finish at NCA came as a shock to some, but if you watch their routine, it’s easy to understand why.  And THEN you had Lady Jags who have all the skill and entertainment value to take home a globe.

It’s going to be a super close division and I can’t wait to watch it all go down. Here’s who I think will make it to Finals.

Medium Senior Coed 5 Worlds Predictions

Medium Senior Coed 5 has received a lot of attention this season, in large part because Rockstar Cheer Beatles have done a great job at posting on social media. Because they’re always posting, people continuously make predictions and discuss the division. The power of social media is real, y’all!

Unlike the other divisions, the main competitors in Medium Senior Coed haven’t competed against one another this season yet. Beatles didn’t go to NCA, so it’s hard to determine who’s going to place around them.

California Black Ops won NCA and put on incredible performances every single time they hit the mat. That type of consistency is hard to ignore and they’ve maintained a lot of fans because of it. They competed against Beatles at USA Championships in Anaheim a month ago and came out on top, although it was extremely close.

Maryland Twisters Reign consistency shouldn’t be overlooked either. They’ve made a lot of changes since the beginning of the season and have a routine that is high in both entertainment value and pure skill. Spirit of Texas Royalty, the reigning World Champs, have been quiet this season and we’re sure they’re working on another high caliber performance.

World Cup Omni, Woodlands Elite Black Ops, and Midwest Cheer Elite Diamond Katz are the underdogs to look out for. Omni had incredible performances at UCA that created a bit of noise. They showed us that they’re in it to win it and now I’m here. for. it.

Here’s who I think will make Finals at Worlds 2017.

Large Senior 5 Worlds Predictions

There are only 11 teams in the Large Senior division, so predicting who’s going to make finals isn’t a hard task. But knowing how everyone is going to place is an entirely different story.

Stingray All Stars Orange has been a dominant force this season. They won CheerSport, NCA and UCA and have proved that they are consistent from weekend to weekend. Their skill and technique are some of the best in the industry. My favorite skill in their routine is the standing one to fulls in the opening because their technique is so on point.

Across the board, this division has been pretty incredible all season long. At UCA in March, we saw Orange, Senior Elite, Shooting Stars, and F5 all hit on Day 2. Hitting is incredibly important in this division and just one deduction can cost you the World Championship title. Each of the teams in Large Senior brings something to the table. It’s so hard to even be in this division to begin with that we don’t often see “tragic” performances at Worlds.

Orange, Senior Elite, Shooting Stars, and F5 have gone head-to-head a few times this season, and really all we can say is that it’s going to be an intense battle at Worlds. Cheer Athletics Panthers have oddly flown under the radar this season and we’re definitely not counting them out.

Large Senior teams are notorious for Worlds’ upgrades, so we’ll just have to see what each team brings to the mat next weekend. Also, we think it’s important to mention the NCA Large Senior Curse… the ridiculous (while oddly coincidental) phenomenon that whoever wins NCA loses Worlds. As you know, Orange won NCA, so while they’re seeded as a lot of fans’ number one picks, they may become a victim.

Here’s who we think is going to make Finals this year.

Large Senior Coed 5 Worlds Predictions

Like Large Senior 5, Large Coed 5 has fewer teams than the other divisions. All but 4 teams who compete during Prelims will make it to Finals on Sunday. Pretty good odds, but winning this division is obviously insanely hard.

Top Gun Large Coed has been absolutely destroying this season. Every time we see them compete, whether it’s against their major competitors or not, they look calm, clean and polished. They’ll be heading into Worlds with some serious confidence and (probably) the largest fan base.

Cheer Athletics Cheetahs, the reigning World Champions, have been on Top Gun’s heels all season long. At NCA, they had the same raw score day 2 and I think we’ll see a close matchup if both teams hit.

California All Stars Cali Coed shouldn’t be counted out either. They have a new routine with added skills that are going to keep them in the running for that World Champion title. ACE Warriors have been teasing new additions to their routine all week long and they’re ready to step up to the competition.

But, in reality, anything could happen in this division. Cheer Extreme Coed Elite and Stingray Allstars Steel also have the talent and skill to rise to the top. It all depends on who hits those picture perfect upgrades we see on social media. If there’s one thing that history can tell us, it’s that you can’t count any team out.

Here’s who I predict will make Finals.
