USASF and IASF have released scoring updates for The Cheerleading Worlds 2027 that bring their scoresheets into closer alignment.
USASF divisions will transition from a 170-point scoresheet to a 100-point scoresheet. IASF tumbling divisions will move from 150 points to 100 points, while IASF non-tumbling divisions will move from 135 points to 92 points.
Despite the new point totals, the underlying scoring philosophy and expectations remain largely unchanged. Both systems continue to use a comparative approach, with points awarded for difficulty and technique within each category. The most significant change is how the available points are distributed.
The USASF scoresheet continues to place greater emphasis on tumbling (in comparison to IASF), while the IASF scoresheets prioritize building categories.

USASF Worlds Scoresheet Changes
USASF has retained every category from its previous Worlds scoresheet, with minimal changes to the relative weight of each category.
The only fundamental scoring change involves jumps, which will be evaluated as a capped category. Teams that perform the required number of jumps can therefore earn the maximum jump-difficulty score.
When the categories are grouped into building, tumbling, and overall components, the overall categories decreased by 1.65 percentage points. Building gained 1.06 percentage points, while tumbling gained 0.59 percentage points.

IASF Worlds Scoresheet Changes
IASF introduced a 100-point scoresheet for tumbling divisions and a 92-point scoresheet for non-tumbling divisions earlier this year.
The two scoresheets assign the same point values to every shared category. The only difference is the eight points allocated to standing and running tumbling, which are not included in non-tumbling divisions.
IASF has also reintroduced separate technique scores for standing and running tumbling. Under the previous scoresheet, the technique for both types of tumbling was evaluated together. The new scoresheet assigns points separately to standing-tumbling technique and running-tumbling technique.
The effects of the changes remain relatively small, with each category’s weight staying within five percentage points of its previous value. Overall, IASF has placed slightly greater emphasis on building categories and the overall categories while reducing the relative weight of tumbling.

Deduction Comparison: 2026 vs. 2027
Deduction values have been adjusted to align with the new 100-point and 92-point scoring systems.
Each deduction now reduces the event score by a slightly smaller percentage than before, less than one percentage point in most cases. The largest change applies to Major Building Falls in the Non-Tumbling divisions, which reduce the score by 1.33 percentage points less than they did previously.
The actual percentage deducted from a team’s event score will vary based on its raw performance score. Although no team earns a perfect raw score, using the maximum possible score provides the clearest way to compare the relative impact of each deduction.

USASF Announces Scoring System Updates for The Cheerleading Worlds® 2027
August 12, 2026 – The US All Star Federation (USASF) has released an updated scoring rubric for USASF Club divisions competing at The Cheerleading Worlds® 2027. The revised score sheet transitions the current Club Division scoring system from a 170-point format to a 100-point format, creating greater alignment with the International All Star Foundation (IASF) scoring structure.
First introduced to attendees at THE National Conference, the updated system preserves the scoring priorities, category structure, and overall expectations coaches and athletes are familiar with.
“This update is primarily a scale conversion rather than a change in scoring philosophy,” said Dana Fielding, USASF Executive Director of Rules, Scoring and Education. “The simplified scale provides greater consistency across all Worlds divisions.”
One key adjustment is the introduction of jumps as a capped category, aligning with in-season expectations of teams.
Judges will also continue to consider comparative elements such as:
- Degree of difficulty
- Percentage of team participation
- Variety
- Synchronization
- Pace
- Additional skills
The transition to a 100-point system represents another step toward greater alignment among scoring structures used within the global All Star cheer community.
