Weekend review #10 of the 2016-17 season and the first weekend review of the season is here! The two-week holiday cheerleading hiatus is over and we’re back in full swing. There were two Worlds bid events this past weekend, ECC in Birmingham, Alabama, and Mid Atlantic Championship in Richmond, Virginia. Both awarded two full paid and six at-large bids.

36 D2 Summit bids and 40 Summit bids were also awarded at events across the country. Congratulations to all the winners, we’re inching closer and closer to our favorite weekends at Walt Disney World.

Oh, and we released our brand new mobile app for both iOS and Android last week. Download it here. (Free of course)

Mid Atlantic Championship

Cheer and Dance Extreme’s Mid Atlantic Championship awarded two full paid and four at-large bids. We saw knockout performances from Maryland Twisters Blackout and FAME Super Seniors. The cheer world is living for Blackout right now, the first year small senior coed team who continues to impress every crowd they perform for. They beat the undefeated World Champs, Brandon Senior Black, at Cheer Alliance in NYC and people haven’t stopped talking about them since.

FAME Super Seniors gave us two hit performances and we’re here for it. F5 didn’t pull off a hit this weekend, but we expect them to work out the kinks before NCA season hits. FAME Vengeance’s large coed performance was also nothing to look past either, with impressive skills and a fun routine.

Check out the results and videos from Mid Atlantic Championship here.

ECC in Birmingham also awarded two full paid bids and four at-large bids. ACE Warriors dominated the conversation there this weekend. ACE Warriors have flown under the radar the past few years, but it appears as if they could be a major contender in large coed this year. As cheer veterans will remember, Warriors were a staple in large coed for several years. Personally, I’m loving this season’s routine. Their running tumbling section is at the end of their routine and that seamless transition to their dance is a work of art. While their athletes probably hate it, it works really well. Don’t sleep on them!

Summit, D2 Summit, and Worlds Bids

Honorable Mentions

CJA Team Gunz

CJA Team Gunz competed this weekend at a local New Jersey competition and looked solid. Anyone who’s watching small coed this year should have them on their list. Small senior coed is stacked this year and it’s truly anybody’s game.

ECE M5 – Spirit Sports

ECE M5, one of our favorite medium senior 5 teams, competed at a local competition in Worcester, MA this past weekend and had another solid performance. A few stunting issues, but their routine continues to look more solid each performance.
