Weekend Review November 12-13, 2016

Well, well, well, what a jam packed weekend it turned out to be. To say the least, the hype is starting early this season, y’all. We saw a fantastic showcase from PCM, California All Stars competed at their first competitions, and the winner of this weekend’s pure hype is…. Cheer Sport Great White Sharks. Their showcase performance the only thing anyone wanted to talk about all weekend and for a good reason.

Our Summit and D2 Summit bids lists have also been updated with the 62 bids that were awarded this weekend.

The countdown is on to the first Worlds bid competition and our favorite events of the season.

As always, if you think we missed something, leave a comment or shoot a message to alex@cheertheory.com.

Pacific Coast Magic Showcase

Pacific Coast Magic invited Cheer Theory to attend their showcase and we were impressed. PCM has strong lower levels, who’ve won the Summit four times, and several Worlds teams that already look solid, i.e. Fantasy, Ressurection, etc. We wrote a more in-depth review on the PCM showcase that you can find here.

Cheer Sport Great White Sharks

Cheer Sport Great White Sharks debuted their 2016-17 routine and people lost it. Their stunt is, by far, the hardest and most innovative we’ve seen this season. It features a roundoff-immediate double up followed by a double around to a double tick-tock to immediate double down. That’s difficult to say let alone do. It looks like their TV show on Freeform has helped them gain some serious attention and they’re doing everything right to ride that wave.

Great Whites compete in the international all-girl 5 division and won bronze at Worlds 2016.

California All Stars

California All Stars headed to their first competition(s) of the season with teams from several of their gyms. We saw Cali Coed and Lady Bullets second performance of the season and debut performances from ACES, Black Ops, and SMOED.

SMOED – Small Senior Coed 5

Cali Coed – Large Senior Coed 5

ACES – Medium Senior 5

Black Ops – Senior Medium Coed 5

Lady Bullets – Small Senior 5

Summit and D2 Summit Bids

62 bids to the Summit and D2 Summit were awarded over the weekend at a handful of competitions across the country. You can find the results via the bid page here. Congratulations to all the teams and to the first Paid Summit Bid Winner of the year, Step One North.

CJA Small Coed Level 5

CJA Small Coed 5 performed in New Jersey over the weekend. They’ve been a top contender at Worlds for the past few years and we’re excited to see how they progress through the season.

And those are the highlights!
