Who Won the First Gold Medal in Each State and Country?

Updated as of The Cheerleading Worlds 2023

Since The Cheerleading Worlds began in 2004, the USASF and IASF have awarded 265 Gold medals. Every year, we create our Gym Ranking Based on Cheerleading Worlds Titles that shows how many medals each program has won. But this off-season, we wanted to dive deeper and discover which teams won their state’s and country’s first gold medals.

Seven countries and 25 states have won at least one Gold medal at The Cheerleading Worlds. Florida and Texas won the first World Champion titles at the inaugural Cheerleading Worlds. In 2009, Chile became the first country other than the United States to win a Gold Medal. In 2011, Thailand and Canada became the next two countries to win their first World Champion title.
